Boutique approach offering private and semi-private classes

Sentiré (/sen.ti'reː/) is a Latin verb meaning to feel, to sense, to be aware of. You can be told what a neutral spine is, but you will not understand it until you feel one. For most people, that is their first session at Sentiré Pilates.

Sentiré Pilates is an independent, founder-led Reformer and equipment Pilates studio at 23 Eccleston Place in Belgravia, London. We offer a truly boutique experience, with a maximum of four clients per group class. Not twelve, not eight, not six. Four. Our unique, personalised style keeps attention to detail at the forefront of every session, and it is the reason our clients tell us they finally feel their body working rather than simply getting through a workout.

Book a private or a semi-private class and the difference usually arrives before the session is over. Then it follows you out of the studio: into how you stand waiting for a lift, where your shoulders sit at the end of a long day, and the strength you turn out to have for things you were not thinking about at all.

Maximum four clients per class and why it matters

Pilates is unusually demanding of precision. A neutral spine, ribs that stay knitted, shoulders that stay soft, a relaxed neck, a level pelvis, an engaged core, breath that arrives at the right moment: these are not things you can pick up by copying the person in front of you. They are things someone has to see, name, and adjust. Hands on.

In a room of twelve, an instructor manages a class. In a room of four, an instructor teaches you. Every cue lands on your body. Every spring setting is chosen for your build, your history, and the day you have had. Nothing is scripted in advance. The exercises themselves are chosen once your instructor sees who is in the room and how they are moving that day, and they change again mid-session if a shoulder is stiff or a back has had a long week. Progress arrives faster because nothing goes uncorrected.

That is the whole argument for booking with us, and we would rather make it plainly than dress it up.

Pilates rewards good form and quietly punishes bad form. Repeat a movement with a collapsed ribcage or an over-gripping hip flexor and you do not simply gain less from the session: you train the compensation deeper, and the very pattern you came in to correct gets stronger. Close supervision is not a luxury here. It is the difference between practice and repetition.

Taught by people who understand bodies

Our instructors come from backgrounds in Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, and Sports Science, and they have years of teaching behind them. Our founder brings more than fifteen years of Pilates expertise and a Master's in Kinesiology, including work with the women's ski jumping athletes who took gold and bronze at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Just as importantly, every instructor at Sentiré Pilates is employed full-time. Not a rotating cast of freelancers passing through between studios, but a settled team who know the equipment, know each other's methods, and come to know you.

We encourage you to train with all of them. Each instructor will notice something different in the way you move, and clients who rotate tend to progress more quickly than those who do not.

Closer to a movement school than a gym

Most people arrive confident that they already know how to stand, hinge, squat, and breathe. Then we slow a movement down and break it into its parts, and something quietly shifts. You feel the shoulder that has been quietly doing the mid-back's job. You notice the ribs flaring at exactly the moment they should stay closed. It is a humbling few minutes, and it is usually when people understand what they are actually paying for.

That is why we think of ourselves as closer to a movement school than a gym. The aim is not to get through a session. It is to learn the principles precisely enough that they become muscle memory, and then to take them with you: to your desk, to the school run, to the tennis court, to the ski slope. Clients tell us they catch themselves correcting their own posture on the Tube. That is the work doing exactly what it is meant to do.

Breathing deserves a mention of its own, because it is far more powerful than most people expect. Your breath sets the position of your ribs, and your ribs set the position of your spine. Get the breath right and the deep core tends to engage without you forcing it. Get it wrong and you can hold a perfect-looking position while the muscles that matter stay switched off. It is the thing our clients are most surprised by, and the thing that transfers fastest into everything else they do.

What Pilates gives you back

Practised consistently, Pilates builds core, pelvic, and shoulder stability, tones the body naturally, lifts the heart rate, and supports healthy circulation. Posture improves, and the spine's natural curvature is encouraged back into place. Tension and everyday stress are alleviated, leading to better physical and mental health. Confidence and self-awareness grow, while the risk of injury falls.

It is never too early and never too late to begin, provided you practise under proper supervision. We teach clients in their twenties and clients in their eighties, and the principles do not change. Only the pace and the loading do.

We are not interested in a six-week transformation. We are interested in how you move as you grow older. Longevity is the goal.

Classes, sessions, and treatments

Pilates classes run for 45 minutes. Long enough for genuine work, short enough that your technique holds to the final repetition. The Intro session is 30 minutes and exists to introduce you to the principles, the equipment, and the studio. We also offer physiotherapy and massage treatments.

Reformer Small Group works the Reformer alone, supported by weights, ring, ball, and bands. It is a full-body session: long, lean, strong, and considerably more demanding than it looks.

Circuit Small Group moves through the whole studio, Cadillac, Reformer, Chair, Spine Corrector, and Mat, blending classical and contemporary Pilates. It rewards attention to technique and reaches the deep stabilising muscles that larger classes tend to miss.

Private sessions are entirely built around you. They suit anyone who wants to progress quickly, anyone brand new to the equipment, and anyone training through pregnancy, the postnatal months, or an injury.

Physiotherapy and massage sit alongside the Pilates rather than apart from it. Postural analysis, manual therapy, and recovery work in the same building, with a team who share notes.

Please tell us about any condition, including pregnancy, before your session begins so we can adapt the work to you.

Full details of every class, session, and treatment are on our main page.

If you have never done this before

Start with the 30-minute Pilates Intro at £30. It is not a workout, and it is not meant to be. It is a learning session: we show you how the equipment works, demonstrate what each movement should actually look like, introduce the principles the whole method rests on, watch how you move, and then tell you honestly which class to book next.

All levels are welcome here, whatever your shape, size, or fitness. So are complete beginners, prenatal and postnatal clients, and anyone mid-injury or recovering from one. The Intro is worth taking even if you have done Pilates before. Those principles are rarely spelled out in a busy class, and plenty of people who have practised for years have never been taught them directly.

Better still, come and see the studio for yourself. Walk in, look around, and speak to our friendly, knowledgeable staff. There is no appointment needed and no sales pitch waiting for you.

Have you ever seen a more elegant Pilates studio in London?

Natural light, high ceilings, air conditioning, heated floors, and mirrors angled so you can actually see what your body is doing. Top of the line customised Balanced Body equipment throughout: Clinical Reformer and Cadillac Combo in the private rooms, Allegro 2 Reformers in the group rooms, with Chair, Spine Corrector, and Mat on hand. The circuit room even has a fireplace, which makes winter mornings considerably easier.

Changing rooms come with amenities and a shower. Space is generous but not endless, so we ask everyone to respect one another's privacy. At reception you will find a café and bar for a coffee afterwards, a healthy refreshment, or a glass of something sparkling if the session has earned it.

The studio is immaculate, always. That is deliberate, and it is part of what you are paying for.

How we look after you

We clean the equipment after every use, so you never have to. Towels and filtered water are provided, and all you need to bring is comfortable activewear and a pair of grip socks. Grip socks are required for safety and hygiene, and ours are available at reception if you forget yours.

Arrive on time rather than early, so you are never left waiting, though a few minutes early is perfectly fine if you would like to settle in. And if you are running late, come anyway. We will never turn you away, and you are welcome to join us for whatever is left of the class. Life happens, and we would rather see you.

You will find our instructors and our reception team warm, unhurried, and seriously good at what they do. Ask them anything, whether it is about a niggling shoulder, a spring setting, or which class to book next. Nobody here is ever too busy for a question.

Pricing without the small print

No misleading packages. No expiry dates designed to catch you out. No contracts with confusing cancellation terms. All sessions are pay-as-you-go, and the price you see is the price you pay.

Instead of selling you ten classes in advance, we reward you for actually turning up. Status is earned through attendance, and it improves your rate, your points, and your cancellation window. We track attended classes on a three-month rolling basis, so a quiet month or a week away does not immediately lower your status.

Points are earned automatically on every session paid by card on file. You collect 0.01 points for each £1 you spend, multiplied by your status, and one whole point can then be spent as £1 at the studio. Points never expire, and they apply themselves at checkout once you have enough.

Status Classes per month Discount Points Cancellation policy
NO STATUS Fewer than five 0% 1x 36h
BRONZE Five or more 5% 1x 30h
SILVER Ten or more 10% 2x 24h
GOLD Fifteen or more 15% 3x 21h
VIP Membership, £200 per month 20% 5x 18h

VIP is our only membership, entirely optional, and unlocks a 20% discount on everything at Sentiré Pilates along with the best cancellation window we offer. It tends to suit our most committed clients, particularly those whose training leans on private sessions, duets, physiotherapy, and massage, where 20% comes off a considerably larger bill than group classes generate. If you mostly book group classes, earned status will serve you well without it. It is billed monthly by direct debit on a rolling basis, sessions remain pay-as-you-go, and you can cancel whenever you like with one month's notice. That is the whole policy. Do contact us if you would like to enquire.

Gift cards are available either as a physical card or as a points top-up sent straight to someone's account. Like all points, they never expire.

Local businesses and corporate clients receive 10% off all sessions. If you work nearby, do get in touch and we will set it up.

If you would still like to read the policies and the terms and conditions in full, every word is waiting for you on our legal page. We will not pretend it is thrilling, but it is short, and there is nothing hidden in it.

How to book your session

Click the profile icon at the top right of this page and enter your email address. If it is your first visit, that creates your account. You will receive an email containing a one-time code that will let you in.

Add your name, your mobile number, and a payment method, stored securely through Stripe, and you are ready to book. See the schedule of available sessions here. Every booking is confirmed by email.

Your card is not charged at the moment of booking. It is only charged once the free cancellation window has closed, so cancelling in good time costs you nothing. You can cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 36 hours before your class, and the higher your status the later that window closes. Once it has passed, the session is charged in full and is non-refundable, whether or not you are able to attend.
